You are here: We fight for Mum..
Me and my twin sister both born too soon..... We were born very prematurely at 30 weeks and mum had pregnancy complications, she had pre-eclampsia which deteriorated this caused her to collapse into an ecliptic fit, the doctors immediately intubated and started CPR and placed mum in a coma, we were then delivered under controlled conditions.
It was decided 3 days later to turn mums life support off as she had suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. At 2lb11 and 2lb9 we were both very tiny and unwell and was hospitalised for months to fight through, blood transfusions, tube feeding and even just general care is not possible without the funding of charities such as Action Medical Research and it all helps go towards saving tiny lives such as ours and we are eternally grateful for the help we received to help us survive.
Seeing pictures of us so tiny in our incubators and hearing family talk of all the pain it caused hurts, so now after 27 years of being angry for mums death, we thought about the positive outcome that me and Ashley got life and decided its time to give back and share our story to help others. We can't take that pain away of loss so instead I will raise all we can to prevent the loss of a child/parent for many others by supporting Action.
